Through a national partnership between YMCA of the USA and the Walmart Foundation, the Moultrie YMCA offers a free Year Round Food Program. The program combines learning enrichment activities with physical activity to keep minds and bodies active, while also serving a healthy meal to kids who may otherwise be at risk of hunger when the school day ends. The Y is committed to nurturing the physical, mental and social-emotional development of youth and is working to ensure that all kids have access to nutritious meals, so they can continue to be healthy and thrive when out of school. Many children are introduced to new fruits and vegetables through the YMCA's Feeding Program.

A letter was received by a grandparent of a participant expressing her gratitude to the YMCA.

"I would like to say 'Thank You' to all those that help with providing the meals for the children attending Primetime. For some children, the meals may be the sole source of food for their evening meal. The meals provide a variety of protein, dairy, fruit and vegetables - so the children are receiving a balance of nutrition. By receiving the meals, I think it helps steer the kids toward eating a more nutritious meal instead of turning to a junk food meal.
Thank you,
C. Weeks"

Nutritious menus are planned weekly by Food Program Director, Savannah Mothershed. Local partnerships with Packer Produce, Sysco Gulf Coast and Moultrie Distributors, Inc. have made this program a success thus far.
