WHO WE ARE
The YMCA is a cause-driven organization focused on three key areas: youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We believe a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors. Our programs, services, and initiatives enable youth to realize their potential, offer families ways to have fun together, empower people to be healthier in spirit, mind and body, welcome and embrace newcomers and help foster social responsibility. The Moultrie Y strives daily to be the lead provider of Fitness, Family and Fun for ALL.
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Nurturing the potential of every child and teen.
The values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors, and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential.
FOR HEALTHY LIVING
Improving our community’s health and well-being.
Being healthy is about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind, and body. At the Y you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself with new activities, fostering connections with neighbors, or joining family-centered activities.
FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Giving back and providing support to our neighbors.
The generosity of others is at the core of the Y’s existence as a nonprofit. It is only through the support of hundreds of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to support and give back to our communities.
THE MOULTRIE YMCA
With over 100 years of service in the Moultrie and Colquitt County community, the Moultrie YMCA offers programs and services for ALL. The main campus is a 65,000 square foot facility which houses the Indoor Aquatics Facility, Sports Performance Center with the Hoist MotionCage and turf, Group Exercise room, Wellness Center, Gymnastics Center boasting 2 National Championship titles, Teen Room, Child Watch, Beans & Strings, a half court basketball gym, 2 racquetball courts, multiple soccer fields, tennis/pickleball courts, outdoor basketball court, a 35 acre Adventure Course which includes the Alpine Tower, Zip Line, low elements, Paintball course, walking and biking trails and the obstacle course for the Annual Chick-fil-A Rugged Run held in May.
The Moultrie Y Childcare Center is a state licensed facility through Bright From the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning that offers quality childcare for children 6 weeks to 4 years of age. The Childcare Center is committed to strengthening families through quarterly Family Engagement opportunities that educate care givers on literacy and teaches fun ways to ensure their child is Pre-K ready.
The nearby Pineland Y is home to our 21st Century Community Learning Center which is a federally funded program that offers students a broad array of enrichment and academic activities and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children. The 3 year old classroom is also located at the Pineland Y along with a commercial teaching kitchen that hosts our Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in partnership with the Walmart Foundation to provide over 300 meals each school day to children in Y after school programs like 21st Century and PRIMETIME. PRIMETIME is an after school program held at every elementary school in Colquitt County. Each of the 9 sites provides a safe place for children from Pre-K to 5th grade while parents are still at work. Homework Help is also offered at each site. The Pineland Y basketball gym is a full court facility used for youth, adult and church league basketball. There are also multiple fields for T-ball, soccer and flag football at the Pineland campus.
The Downtown Y is located at 9 1st Street SE and is a 24/7 facility. The Moultrie Y started in a small building in downtown Moultrie in 1916 and after 102 years, the Y returned to the heart of downtown. This location is just one more way our Y is working to serve ALL by breaking down the barriers of time constraints and accessibility. The Downtown Y also has a Group Exercise studio and often leads classes on the courthouse lawn under the beautiful magnolia trees.
VOLUNTEER AT THE Y
Across the United States, more than 500,000 business leaders, community advocates, parents, teens and individuals who want to give back and support their neighbors volunteer at the Y. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods nationwide, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver positive personal and social change.
With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, Y volunteers give men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.
At the Moultrie Y, volunteers are the foundation of what we do. Here are a few of our volunteer opportunities:
– Mentoring a child for 1 hour each week through our Mentoring Program.
– Teaching swim safety to all Colquitt County 2nd graders through our SPLASH program.
– Teaching kids sports skills and life skills by coaching one of our Youth Sports Programs.
– Serving on a committee like the Christian Emphasis Committee, Membership Committee, Finance Committee, or the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
